Most weeks, you will find our crew out on the trails around Adamstown or Maitland, cameras in hand, with no pressure to make small talk. Two of our crew’s keen photographers, Rumer and Ryan, recently captured some great shots on our local walks, including Ryan’s photo of wild corellas and Rumer’s scenic trail path. Seeing them build these creative skills is a fantastic bonus, but the real win is simply spending time in nature. Getting outside and moving helps them feel settled and ready for the week, which is why our outdoor sessions are such a core part of what we do.
Time on the Trail and Side-by-Side Connection
Our photography sessions happen because of the walking we do. Ryan and Rumer regularly use the local tracks to move their bodies and reset after a busy week, taking in the outdoors at their own pace.
When we walk as a group, it changes the way our participants connect. There is no pressure to hold a face-to-face conversation. Instead, Ryan and Rumer focus on their cameras, spotting subjects, and enjoying the trail. This side-by-side approach naturally builds social confidence and helps everyone feel comfortable in the group. Framing their photos is just our way of celebrating that time outdoors, rather than hiding their progress away in a folder.
Nature is at the Core of What We Do
Because these local trails, parks, and waterways give our crew such a great space to thrive, we want to make sure every session leaves the world in better shape than we found it. We partner with One Tree Planted because nature is at the core of what we do.
Getting outdoors matters to our crew, so we put our own resources behind One Tree Planted to help restore forests and rebuild natural habitats.
It is our way of giving back to the environment that makes our programs possible, ensuring that as our community grows, local and global forests grow with us.
Fully Funded by Active Social, Not Your NDIS Plan
Families are watching every dollar in their core budget right now, and we want to be completely transparent about how this initiative works.
Active Social funds this entirely ourselves. It does not touch a single cent of any participant’s NDIS plan or core budget. You get the same support and 1:3 small group setting, with the added benefit of knowing we are actively contributing to environmental restoration out of our own pocket.
