Brendan Andrews

I'm 28 and I've got an absolute passion for helping people thrive — especially in health and fitness. I've trained non-stop since I was 13. It's a vital part of who I am, and I love being able to share that passion with others.

Favourite Active Social activity

Where do I start! Michael and I carefully curated the program around things we genuinely love. But 4WD wins — purely because I get to give people experiences they might never have been able to afford on their own.

Secret superpower

Uncertainty and adversity only make me stronger. The team calls me a fearless leader — either way, I'll keep putting my best foot forward.

Favourite quote or mantra

“Talent is nothing without dedication and discipline — and dedication and discipline is a talent in itself.”

Hobbies outside of work

4WD, camping, getting outside with Willow, and sports! Funnily enough, a lot of the things in our program 😍🤣

Most memorable NDIS success story

Where do we start?! With my background in fitness, it's the physical transformations that come out of our program — and they're just a by-product of being Active & Social. Our client Luke has lost 9kg, and that's only one of them.

Fun fact

My grandfather, Arthur Shannos, represented Australia in weightlifting at the Olympics. His mural is in our gym, and we're all so proud knowing he looks down on us. 🧡

Hobbies outside of work

Trying new things — food or activities — taking my two inseparable sausage dogs for walks, and gaming.

Most memorable NDIS success story

Working closely with a participant whose goal was to drive on his own and gain independence — he smashed it!

Stand-up paddle boarding on a sunny day, or a trampoline park. Nothing beats seeing everyone step out of their comfort zone and have fun doing it.

Secret superpower

Helping people see strengths in themselves they didn't know they had.

Favourite quote or mantra

Hobbies outside of work

Sunrise beach walks followed by Oakberry 😍, gym training, travelling the world, and quality time with my fiancé and puppy.

Most memorable NDIS success story

Watching a participant who was once too anxious to join group activities slowly build the confidence to engage, make friends and complete a full session on their own. Seeing that growth firsthand is why I love what I do.

Fun fact

My dog has 3 legs — and still runs faster than most 4-legged dogs!

I'd say either a pub feed and pool, or a beach day. There are plenty of activities in the program that I am looking forward to trying for the first time.

Strengths include but are not limited to; dancing, singing, gymnastics, and lying about my strengths. I like to think I'm known for being a happy, positive person who is always there to help in any way that I can.

Go-to coffee order

I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but similar to other Active Social staff, I am a fiend for a Pepsi Max…or three.

Fun fact / hidden talent

I try out a new hobby each year and this year I'm learning to play the harmonica. So hopefully by the end of the year, busting out a harp and playing some blues will be my favourite hidden talent.

About Us

Support, done the Active Social way

Active Social is an NDIS day program across the Hunter, built on one idea — people grow when they're backed to do hard things, not parked in passive care. We're coaches first. We take our crew 4WDing, paddle-boarding, hiking and into the gym, and we watch them get stronger, more confident and more independent for it.

Everyone deserves support, friendship and a real sense of belonging. We're here to build a space where people with disability feel valued, capable and part of something — where having a crack at new things is just what we do.

Move › Connect › Build › Thrive

Move

Get out and get active. 4WDing, paddle-boarding, hiking, the gym — movement is where confidence starts.

Connect

Real friendships and a crew that shows up for each other, on every adventure.

Build

Skills, independence and self-belief, built one hard thing at a time.

Thrive

The whole point: people living fuller, more independent lives on their own terms.
